At St Andrew's RC Church, Worswick St, Newcastle. Organised by the Anawim Prayer Group. Starts 8pm, finishes at 6am with Mass followed by a shared breakfast.

UPDATE from Pat - 18th March 2012:

1. 25th March Fire & Light at 7.30pm St Cuthbert’s Hartlepool
2. 27th May St Patrick’s Stockton- Pentecost.
3. Chris Thomas Day for Men now St Joseph’s Gateshead October 20th.10-4pm; same details as before but no charge. Packed Lunch Tea & Coffee available to pay for.
4. Healing and Safeguarding- there is a new agreed and updated Diocesan Policy (see side panel). There are a couple of changes re sitting now when prayed with to safe accidents etc. Please read to make sure you are covered.
5. All those praying at Public Events should have done the Diocesan Healing Training. Those who pray with Alan Guile presumably have been trained with Alan- but at our Diocesan Renewal Events our training needs to have be done in order for people to pray with others.
6. Training available where required. Some in Hartlepool in next couple of weeks but don’t know if there are places left. Only available to those joining a healing team or on one at present but not trained.(Contact Pat for more info)

NEW Hymn Book for Renewal

Pat Kennedy writes:

Terry Ryan has been putting together a new card- backed hymn book for Renewal.
Prayer groups may be interested in buying some. They work out at around £5.50 each but if we buy in bulk they would be around £1.70; if any groups or individuals would like to put in a no commitment order so that we can see how many we would likely to get then please let me know.
Music Leaders’ copy which includes a CD is around £25.

Rest in Peace

Audrey Howell died on 20th October 2011 peacefully in Freeman Hospital after battling bowel cancer for a year. Audrey was a member of the Longbenton Anawim Prayer Group and had been in Renewal for many years, since its early days. She is greatly missed, may she rest in peace

Advent Retreat 2011:

47 people gathered over the first weekend of December at Minsteracres Passionist Monastery Northumberland for the annual Advent Retreat led by Pat Kennedy. “Heralds of the Gospel” reflected on Mary and the poverty within ourselves; seeking to allow God to find space in us to enable us too to give birth to Christ this Christmas.

This year the snow managed to stay away mostly, although on the Saturday morning there was a heavy fall of snow which thankfully melted by lunchtime. The age range was broad and the experience of a renewal weekend was mixed, but the feedback was very good:

• “I found this a very uplifting experience, the talks were inspirational; I will be back next year, please God”
• “I have been inspired and excited by the input, and God has awakened in me this weekend. Thank you.”
• “This has been a great opportunity to meet with like minded people, meet new people and take time out for self and to thank and praise God. See you next year."

Fr Sean Conaty RIP

Sadly Fr Sean Conaty died on Sunday 7th August 2011 after a lengthy illness. He was 81 years of age. Requiescat in pace. His Requiem Mass was celebrated on Friday 12th August in St Mary's Cathedral, followed by burial at Heaton Cemetery. The Cathedral was packed with friends, family and clergy.

Ann Liddell CD

Following on from the success of her first CD, Friend Move up Higher, Ann Liddell has now released a new CD "If I have the Eloquence".

It has twelve tracks featuring a diverse range of songs, arrangements and musical textures, including several which stem from friends in the North East including Fr Bill Rooke and Jim Furlong.
